Ride has feeRide has named contactRide has ride leaderInfo gathered by SBL. Check with ride organizer for accuracy
The Southern Tier has become one of our most popular tours, and it’s easy to see why. This route is 1,200 miles shorter than either the Northern Tier or TransAm, yet offers epic quantities of scenery and shoulder-season sunshine. After dipping our bicycle wheels in the Pacific, we’ll climb eastward, riding through Southern California, Arizona, and New Mexico. In Texas, we’ll parallel the Rio Grande River before hitting the Texas Hill Country. From there, it’s on to Louisiana and the heart of Cajun Country. Finally, you’ll pedal along the Gulf Coast of Mississippi and Alabama, cross Florida’s panhandle, and ride to your adventure’s end in St. Augustine. From enchiladas to Texas barbecue, alligator po’ boys to Southern grits, we’ll experience the culinary cultures of the South. As one past participant put it, “This trip lends new meaning to the phrase ‘eating up the miles.’” For more information, visit our website www.adventurecycling.org, or call 800-755-2453.

Join your cycling friends for a group road ride leaving from the Fresh Bike Service in Roswell. The road ride will be led out of Fresh by USA Cycling Coach and local racer, Kevin Lee of the Lead Pack Cycling Group. Kevin will be available to help with technique, strategy, and advice if any of the riders are interested in getting pointers. The suburban, 20 mile Roswell route covers scenic views of the Chattahoochee River and has two category 5 climbs. Riders of all levels are welcome. Groups A/B will be determined as this Fresh group ride is established. This ride is not a race, but simply a time to socialize and to enjoy the sport of cycling. All traffic laws and cycling etiquette MUST be followed. We are a community of cyclists, please help your fellow riders when they need help. Call out all road obstructions and be Roswell Bike Friendly All Riders next to you and All Traffic on the roads. Helmets are required and lights are always advisable. Road cycling is an inherently dangerous sport. As in any sport the known risk and dangers are assumed by the participant. This is NOT a sanctioned Fresh Bike Service Inc or Lead Pack Cycling Ride. We are simply meeting at and riding from Fresh Bike Service Inc for convenience. Shawn has offered to let us change at the shop and in case of basic pre-ride items are needed then we can conveniently get them before leaving. http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/183159196 For more information, visit our website freshbikeservice.com/.

6:00 pm The Lower Rim Ride (Asheville, NC)
Info gathered by SBL. Check with ride organizer for accuracy
Pisgah area SORBA will be hosting a Beginner and a Intermediate rides in Bent Creek. We will meet every Wednesday at the Rice Pinnacle parking area. The rides are as follows: The Lower Rim Ride. This is more of a beginner friendly social ride of approximately 9 to 11 miles in length. We will be riding the middle to lower trails around the Bent Creek bowl. Most of what we ride is deemed easy. There will however be some challenging climbs and downhills. The amount of these will be decided by the group. However there is nothing in Bent Creek that’s flat. We will ride what everyone is comfortable with. I’ve said there’s nothing in Bent Creek I can’t walk. If you feel you are too slow for a group ride this might be the ride to try. We will be stopping often and no one will be left behind. So dust off your bike, pump up your tires, lube your chain and come and join us. Plan on spending about two hours or so in the woods. If attending a night ride a good bike light at 300+ Lumen is preferred. Click this link to learn about lights. R Because this is a SORBA sanctioned ride all Non-PAS members are required to sign a waiver. Helmets are required and biking gloves are recommended. Bring along a spare tube, water and snacks for the ride. Weather permitting, we will be meeting at the Rice Pinnacle Parking Area. Should there be bad weather we will make the call at 4pm and post it on PAS Facebook. Directions to Bent Creek – Rice Pinnacle Parking Area From 191 Brevard Rd. turn on to Bent Creek Ranch Road, follow the sign to Lake Powhatan and stay left onto Wesley Branch Road. You will pass by the service and member entrance to the NC Arboretum on your left. You will enter the Bent Creek Experimental Forest. The first road on your right is Rice Pinnacle. Turn there to park. For more information, visit our website www.pisgahareasorba.org.
