Bring your mountain bike and ride in the Pisgah or Dupont State Forests, featuring some of the finest singletrack trails in the Southeast! For the best of both worlds, bring both bikes! And, go for a hike, take in the Apple Festival in Hendersonville, tour the Biltmore House or Carl Sandberg’s home, or just cool it by Deep Woods Lake.
Our base of operations is beautiful Deep Woods Camp, featuring rustic campstyle
cabin accommodations, so you bring your sleeping bag, or sheets and blankets, towels, etc., or you can camp in your own tent next to the beautiful private lake and swim after your ride. This is a share-the-work ride, so we all participate in one kitchen cooking or clean-up duty, which adds fun and camaraderie to the weekend. We have fun and unwind on this weekend!
Motel option- If you wish to stay elsewhere, you will need to make your own
reservations. All riders must attend the riders’ meeting Sat. at 8:30 am
Riding in the mountains is exhilarating, beautiful and very strenuous, so start training early! Or, ride the valley!
ADVANCE REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED – NO WALK-INS
We have spaces for 56 riders, so bring your friends! We feature the best food of any SBL ride. The tour fee includes all meals from Saturday’s blueberry pancake (and more) breakfast through Monday’s lunch, with particular mention to our two evening feasts; camp lodging for three nights and tee-shirt to those who register by Aug. 17th. The fee is the same for either bunks or camping (indicate choice below). Kids under 6 are free with no bunk space provided (sleep on floor). Bring a flashlight!
Our rides start early on Saturday, so be sure to arrive Friday night (Aug 31) before dark. Deep Woods Camp is about 3 1/2 hours north of Atlanta.
