Back to Blue Ridge - Labor Day Weekend • September 5, 6 & 7

• The Parkway ride – incredible mountain road riding - 66 miles, over 4,000 feet of climbing, ride on the Blue Ridge Parkway, and a fantastic five-mile descent. When the weather on the Parkway is clear, you can see forever. Also offered is a 28-mile ride with an ascent of 3,000 feet, including riding the BRP, and 3,000 feet of descent – my personal favorite.

• Friends, fun, exercise, adventure, great food, beautiful Camp, heart pounding hills, fantastic descents. You choose what you want to do each day – is doesn’t get much better than this!

• Two creeks and a barn. - You get to drive through the creeks and stable your bike in the barn; how cool is that?

• A bike ride weekend that has excited riders for over 30 years has to be great! (This is year 31!)

•The Food – some of the best food on any SBL ride ever,
period. Breakfasts featuring quiche; flap jacks with blueberries, scrambled eggs, toast, bacon, taters, everything but grits. Dinner is beyond description except “YUMMY.”

• The Valley rides - rolling hills, babbling brook and farm critters galore. Did we mention the traffic? Nope – that’s because there wasn’t any.

• MTB trails abound at DuPont State Park and Pisgah Forest – have you ever ridden under a waterfall? This is worth the drive all by itself. Beautiful trails for all MTB skill levels.

• Classic Car Show – it’s a short hop into Brevard for their annual classic car show and shopping at antique shops and general store.
• The bakery ride - it’s almost perfect- there’s a bakery and it’s oh, so good!

• The apple festival – apple pie, apple butter, apple cider, and apple fritters, apple funnel cake, apple preserves, apple sauce

• The Saluda loop - take a pleasant loop around Saluda mostly rolling with a few hills and then tour the town. A nice cruising ride

• Biltmore House in Asheville is a short drive to a different world.

• The Saluda grade – add a killer incline at the end so you can say you did it!

• Carl Sandberg House – learn the history of one of America’s great writers and view the grounds.

• Hike, fish and picnic in the Pisgah Forest.

• West Side Story – not the play – the 48-mile Parkway ride with just a bit less climbing and a real swimming hole to cool your toes in.

• The Cradle of Forestry – modern forestry management was born in the Pisgah valley. Learn the story and see period reenactments of life in the N.C. mountains.

• A private lake to swim at Deep Woods complete with a rope swing, zip line, diving board and new 2 meter platform.

• Hot showers that endlessly soothe the soul.

• Driving NC 276 over Caesar’s Head. Be sure your bike rack is firmly attached, and you remembered your driving gloves

• The Milky Way – see the stars away from the city lights

• Clear mountain air – revitalizes the soul, clears the pores, good for the liver.

• Read a book on the front porch overlooking the lake and deep woods

• Kels – Our host for 29 years. I can’t describe the man in words so you must come up and meet the cover model for “Modern Camouflage.”

• Deep Woods Camp – Rustic but oh so relaxing!!!

• It’s the last long weekend of the summer; don’t let it slip away! Labor Day Weekend, Aug. 30 - Sept. 1. Come unwind with your friends. Bring your friends! We welcome all riders.
